Grime Homestead

We've moved into the 1920s!

Horses 1920s Grime Homestead

New this season, Sauder Village has moved into the 1920s!

Visit the third stop of our Walk Through Time at the newly renovated Grime Homestead! Discover why the 1920s is seen by many historians as the beginning of our “Modern America” as you explore the Grime Home, barns and garden areas.

Wearing shorter dresses of the 1920s, costumed guides will share about the many products and packaged foods available to families during this time period. Guests will see wall-to-wall carpeting, wallpaper and even a radio, phonograph and telephone in this rural farmhouse.

In the 1920s, barn guests can meet many barnyard animals including horses, cows, chickens and sheep. Historic farmers will share about life on a farm during the 1920s.
